  3. Set weekly hours, workdays and paid weeks.
  4. Compare every equivalent in the result table.

Salary conversion formulas

Every conversion passes through one annual equivalent. Hourly pay uses hours per week and paid weeks; daily pay uses workdays and paid weeks. Biweekly means every two weeks, while semimonthly means 24 payments per year.

annual from hourly = hourly rate × hours/week × paid weeksannual from daily = daily rate × workdays/week × paid weeksmonthly = annual ÷ 12biweekly = annual ÷ (paid weeks ÷ 2)

Biweekly versus semimonthly pay

Biweekly payroll normally produces 26 checks in a 52-week year; semimonthly payroll produces 24. The check amount therefore differs even when annual salary is identical.

This calculator uses your paid-weeks setting for weekly and biweekly equivalents, but always uses 24 for semimonthly and 12 for monthly pay.

Gross pay and take-home pay

BLS earnings measures distinguish the period represented and commonly report gross earnings before deductions. This page keeps that scope: it converts the stated gross amount without guessing filing status, tax jurisdiction, insurance, retirement or other deductions.

For budgeting, apply actual paycheck deductions after the gross conversion rather than treating the annual equivalent as spendable income.

Overtime, bonuses and schedule limits

The Department of Labor explains that covered nonexempt U.S. employees generally receive at least 1.5 times the regular rate for hours above 40 in a workweek. This salary converter does not determine eligibility or add overtime automatically.

Bonuses, commissions, shift premiums, unpaid leave and changing schedules also require separate inputs or payroll records. The displayed equivalents assume the entered rate and schedule stay constant.

Pay periods used

A 52-week schedule is the default; changing paid weeks updates weekly and biweekly values.
